The WWE Royal Rumble Will Be Expanding

As part of WWE’s plan to run four super weekends, they are expanding the run time of their pay-per-views. We’ve learned that the Royal Rumble will run 4+ hours.  The show will start at 7pm eastern on the WWE Network and traditional pay-per-view outlets and they will do the Kickoff show at 6pm eastern.
We already know of plans to run an NXT Takeover show on the night before the Rumble and the company is already lining up events to take place on that weekend, similar to what they did during SummerSlam weekend.
The 2017 edition of the Royal Rumble will take place in San Antonio’s Alamodome and the expectation is that they will start the heavy push for that show next month since they have a ton of tickets to sell. Shawn Michaels’ name has been brought up and there’s a good chance that he’ll be involved in that show in a non-wrestling capacity. For those who have asked, Michaels has told friends that he has no desire to wrestle again.
