Djokovic Broadens Huge Titles Lead With Record-Breaking Win In Paris


With his victory at Roland Garros on Sunday, Novak Djokovic extended his lead in the race for the Big Titles. He became the first player to win all four major titles at least three times.

The 36-year-old crushed Casper Ruud in straight sets in the last of the dirt court major to acquire his record 23rd Huge homerun title. He has now won in six of the beyond eight majors he has contended in.

In the race for the most Big Titles, which include Grand Slam championships, the Nitto ATP Finals, ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, and Olympic singles gold medals, Djokovic has risen significantly ahead of his primary rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer (who is now retired).

The Serbian possesses or is tied for the record in titles at the majors (23, solo record), Nitto ATP Finals (6, attached with Federer) and Experts 1000s (38, solo record). He has now won 67 Big Titles, while Federer has won 54 and Nadal has won 59.

For every 3.2 events played, Djokovic has won one "Big Title" (67/213). The only other player with a record of more than one claim per four tournaments is (59/208, one per 3.5 tournaments). For every 4.4 events he competed in, Federer won one Big Title (54/240).

The 36-year-old is also halfway to becoming the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win the Grand Slam—winning all four majors simultaneously. Djokovic won the first three majors of 2021, defeating him in the US Open final.
